52 Week Purge & Schedule

I mentioned last week how many schedules I had made, typed, fretted over, and openly defied.

How happy I was to be thriving on order.

I was asked by a friend to see that schedule-the time I didn’t use a computer or printer-so I uploaded my very low tech schedule to twitter, and now I will share it with you:

Simply genius, isn’t it? {wink}

This week hasn’t been as fabulous as last week-but I am committed to this, and I will not fail.

I have also decided to pick one deep cleaning spot each week of the year. I of course do my regular chores daily, but these are the tough ones-like going through closets to purge clothes we no longer need.

You know, the stuff that gets pushed back because keeping a home with six children is tough-that stuff.

I forgot to take a before picture, but just know the kids had taken over my lovely television drawer, and it was chaos. The after:

This drawer is now what it should be, a home for my most-used workouts, and the children’s DS games {which are currently banned-because video games make my kids wonky}.

I purged all of the drawers in the living room last week, but this is the one that had gotten the worst. I chose an easy task to start my year, to give me steam to keep going.

This week’s assignment is the drawers in my bedroom. This is mostly because our 5 year old has too many sets of pajamas.

If anyone would like to join me-feel free. I am going my own way, not using anyone else’s schedule to better meet the needs of our home.

It’s all part of being more focused.

Peaceful Fruit

I woke up in a mood. It wasn’t a good mood. I have searched my mind for why, and haven’t come up with anything other than loss of focus on Sunday.

Perhaps I was just moody.

Perhaps I was disappointed in myself.

"Man who is born of a woman is few of days and full of trouble.”- Job 14:1

I don’t like it when I am not kind. I don’t like having to ask for forgiveness.

So I asked the Lord for strength, and my husband for forgiveness.

I cannot take my frustrated words or attitude back. I don’t know if I will have another day to “wake up on the right side of the bed”.

I do have this moment.

“For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.”- Hebrews 12:11
Thankful for more time to strive for better. Determined to make the time worth it. Focused.

Foundation

In December, I was convicted to do better with the Bible training in our home. Once again, my husband had been telling me that this area was more important than other studies, while state-requirement-checklist me went my own way, allowing Bible to come last, some days- not at all.

The problem is that Bible training was one of the big things that made me finally decide to listen to the homeschool call. The Lord practically kicked me before I decided to do it. Really.

So December I realized I was ignoring my first love.

“But I have this against you, that you have abandoned the love you had at first.”-Revelation 2:4

And with that I looked around and saw just how out of order my home had become; it did not meet the standards I knew we could meet. Most importantly, I was failing in the job God entrusted me to do.

“You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.” -Deuteronomy 6:7

With 2012 just around the bend, I saw all of the things in my life that were out of focus.

Not only was I depriving myself of a proper diet of The Word, I was depriving my children as well.

So we stripped it all down, and put it back together, bit by bit. Building upon the true foundation, the purpose for our journey. Focused.

“But the one who hears and does not do them is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. When the stream broke against it, immediately it fell, and the ruin of that house was great."-Luke 6:49

New Year!-1

Far from perfect-but at peace with where we are.

“Resolution”—P52

DSC_0076-1

I’m linking up with Darcy this year, with 52 weeks of photography challenges. I can’t think of a better way to represent the beginning of this challenge, or the year, than this reminder of time.

My word for 2012 is Focused, so all of my goals this year will center around it. This will be my constant reminder of how quickly the year will pass, and the need for me to use every moment the Lord gives me to the best of my ability.
