Please Pray

I do not know this family. I had never even visited Dana’s blog until today. I heard of their tragedy today on Facebook, through the giant circle of the homeschooling community. Last week, they lost their almost 2 year old son. He was crushed by a television, which was atop a very sturdy antique dresser. Please pray for the Hanley family, the blog postings from mom Dana, have had me in tears all day long. Dana’s blog can be found here.
Dana urges you to go through your home for possible dangers. I was guilty. We anchor bookcases around here. You never know. But when we moved rooms a few weeks ago, we neglected to reattach our tethers. I had Rick do them all today. Even if you do not have children, if you ever have children visit, you should make sure your furniture is secure. Perhaps this horrific tragedy will save another child.
I have never seen a group of people surround each other with love like the homeschool blogging community. You don’t have to know someone “in real life” to hurt for them. I pray that the Lord will comfort this family. This sweet child is in the arms of our Lord.  I cannot help them with this, but He can. It is the family that is left in this world that is aching. Please pray for them with me.

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

  1. I just read it a moment ago and I cried and cried. And cried. Oh my goodness.

  2. I saw this on FB, too. It is haunting me, I am so torn up over this family's tragedy. I have also lowered my baby's crib mattress finally (she has been pulling up for awhile now) and I moved my son's loft bed away from his two story window... saftey things I had been putting off. You were right when you said you don't have to know people IRL to feel connected to them. Praying.
