I have these and Hooked on Phonics I have been trying to decide between for teaching Evan to read. This weekend I sat down with all of the books and looked through them thoroughly.
After much consideration, I finally made a decision.
It wasn’t the one I wanted to choose, or even the one I thought had the best chance of catching my interest.
It seems like The Ordinary Parent’s Guide To Teaching Reading has the best method, Explicit phonics, uses all three modes of learning, and doesn’t have anything that is left for question. The entire lesson is scripted, and there are no pictures for hints or distractions.
I purchased the flashcards on their website, and have printed them all out on cardstock. I will be keeping you updated on how it is going, I may just see if Leah wants to learn right along with Evan.
