My thoughts:

Daily Word Problems, 2nd Grade:

We are using this with Noah. There are 36 weeks of problems, labeled Monday through Friday for each week. The days are clearly marked, and there is plenty of workspace for him to use to solve the problems.

Daily Word Problems covers a lot of different math skills, starting with basic addition and subtraction (with and without regrouping), and including multiplication, fractions, skip counting, tally marks, time, money, graphs, and charts.

Math is not our family’s strong suit. This has been a fantastic resource to keep the real-life math going. Noah has been able to do almost every day without my help.

Beginning Geography:

I had hoped to use this with our 4 1/2 year old Evan, but I found that he had trouble with some things. I then started using it with our 1st grader, Emma. I had already ordered my own copy, and will just wait until fall to work with Evan again.

Beginning Geography has everything your young student needs to know about map skills and basic geography, by covering 9 concepts. You will cover maps, positional words, directions, compass rose, map key, distance and borders on a map, and map grids.

There are two full-color maps included- Landforms and Bodies of Water, and Continents and Oceans, for even more learning.

I wish we had had this for our younger children! I am also going to start using this with our 2nd grader as well.

Daily Geography Practice, Grade 5:

In this title you will find five daily worksheets for 36 weeks of instruction. Those weeks are broken into six main elements- The World in Spatial Terms, Places and Regions, Physical Systems, Human Systems, Environment and Society, and The Uses of Geography. Each lesson has three elements- a teacher page with answer key, a map page, and a question page. There is also a reproducible glossary and 36 transparencies.

I love the simplicity of Daily Geography, but am also saddened at how little our daughter Hannah learned about geography in public school. We have some work to do. The good news, it’s never too late to learn, and our other children will not have the same problem.

If you are like me, your wheels start spinning when you read reviews, and you start thinking about what would work for your family. There are links in the titles at the top of this post, and you can also use these:

Free Timberdoodle Catalog {my favorite, favorite place to buy curriculum}

Timberdoodle has curriculum for every facet of your homeschool, from baby to high school. If you are new to homeschooling, or trying to decide if homeschooling is right for your family, they offer helpful articles that can help you homeschool now.

Before I started reviewing for the Timberdoodle Team, I told everyone about this wonderful company. You will not find a more attractive, friendly layout for a curriculum catalog, and the customer service always gets an A+ from me. Happy browsing!
