Roller Coaster Review

RollerCoasterCovertiltleft

This study was great! The lapbook was the first we have finished done . I wanted to do the lapbook with the 2 other DNG studies we have used in the past, Thanksgiving, and Spring Surprises, but I wasn’t a lapbooking convert yet. And I was maybe a little bit lazy. :/ I decided if I was going to do a review I should use the product as it was intended to be used. {Rocket scientist in the making I know.} I also decided I should do better than my last attempts and really go through the material first. The difference was night and day.

This DNG course will take you through these daily objectives:
Day 1: What Is a Roller Coaster?
Day 2: The History of Roller Coasters
Day 3: People and Places of Roller Coasters
Day 4: Science Secrets of Roller Coasters and Rides
Day 5: Goodies and Gadgets of Roller Coasters
If I had a whole pile of cash I would just print out every page. Instead, I chose the pages I thought were most important to fill in each day and printed those out. I then printed the daily lapbooking components. I cut them all out and arranged the days into a folder with pockets I bought from WalMart. The pages went in the folder space and the components went into the pocket space.

There are so many great components for the lapbook, and we did almost all of them. To help save ink I decided to work collectively on one lapbook instead of one per child. I now see why lapbooking is popular in the homeschool community. Hands-on = greater memory of what we just learned.

The finished printed pages I put in an inexpensive tabbed folder. Then I tucked the lapbook in the back of the folder to store them together.

A few things you will find out when you buy (or win!) this study:The full page pictures found in this study are gorgeous! The kids and I appreciated the quotes that are added to them as well. We honestly oohed and aahed! Who knew roller coasters could be that pretty? There are also links throughout the study to get you back to where you were before when you click on a lapbook component. That was really handy! There are lots of books suggestions for books that go along with your study, and although I could only locally find one, if I had more time I could have had my library find more within the state and have them shipped to our local branch.

I am really enjoying the addition of Unit Studies to our school. I am so thankful that Amanda Bennett and The Old Schoolhouse have done the work for us! You can find the new Download N Go Blog here. And you can also visit The Old Schoolhouse Store here to find this and any other title you would like to learn more about!
