It’s time to nose into how everyone else sets up their schoolroom! This was my favorite week last year! There were several rooms with floor to ceiling built-in bookcases, and antique furniture that made me drool. Here is my schoolroom, which is very different from last year.
The first room up is where our classroom was last year. It is too small for us to all be in it full-time.
This room serves as a quiet place for Hannah (5th Grade) to go do her Teaching Textbooks lessons. We reused an old countertop that was in our fellowship building that was torn down to make room for a new church building. It leaves an open space in the small room.
The other side of the room holds our overflow bookcase and my locked up “Mom Only” cabinet.
The second room is our most used area this year, our dining room. The table is big enough and we have the access to spill into the living room while still being in my visual range. I plan to get another cheap bookcase at Wal Mart to put in the other corner. You can also see on the left our little cart where handwriting and other workbooks go. It’s as far into workboxes as I think I will get, and it works well for us.
My carousel of school supplies, which took a shipment from an out of state Target from my sister to complete!
Yes, it’s crooked. I changed it on my software but I haven’t figured out how to link changed pics to LiveWriter, so imagine it isn’t crooked with me! This is where our daily books are.
View back into the living room.
Antique dresser turned into printer stand/ paper catcher.
Hey~it’s Saturday!
We use the t.v. for our LeapFrog videos and sign language DVD.
I also take Emma and the little ones to this little table in the living room for work where writing is involved so their feet can touch the floor and sit properly.
And finally, my desk. It’s where I blog, check email and Christian (8th Grade) does his Teaching Textbooks and where we do Typing Instuctor. We usually gather around it’s bigger screen to watch our videos for Download N Go. I even sometimes use it to workout, when the kiddos are playing the Wii.
See how well the kids put their books away by size like I show them??
Thankfully I cleared off my desk a couple of days ago and I can actually see it!
Of course as homeschoolers we learn everywhere, and we have even had History and Science readings by dad (mom gets car sick) in our new car.
I can’t wait to see everyone’s spiffed up rooms! We have been back to school for a month now, and the house reflects it. I am off to go straighten those books!
Very nice set up Samantha! I'm itchin' to start again, but it would be pointless until I have this baby - which won't be for about another month! *sigh* At the same time, the end of this pregnancy is keeping me pretty tired, so not sure I could even keep up with it right now!

ReplyDeleteIt all looks very organized and cozy! I like the counter top idea.
ReplyDeleteRe your question: My school room was intended as a gameroom when the house was built by the original owners. We decided we didn't want to dedicate an entire room to a pool table and whatever else goes in those kinds of rooms, so it became a playroom and then a school room.
Thanks for stopping by!
What a great set up! Love the car photo, too! We enjoy taking a lot of field trips. I like your table carousel, too :)
