Finding Frugal Clothing

Clothing six children can be really expensive. It doesn’t have to be, with a little planning, and a few hours of work.

We needed to do fall clothing shopping. Instead of a really large bill, and all of the stress for shopping for that many people, we went shopping in our attic first.

We store our clothes in tubs in the attic, labeling each tub with what is inside, and sometimes which season. Our girls seem to be harder than boys on clothes, and of course we always have to buy the oldest kids their clothing, as no one older passed them down.

We also have determined that less is more, and we are limiting how many shirts, pants, etc. we have for each person. Less money, less laundry. It also will hurt less when a child grows out of that size in a three month growth spurt.

The plan of attack-

Go through tubs, and see what will work for who.

Make a list of what each child can use.

Make a shopping list of what each child still needs.

Shop sales, Goodwill, and clearance racks to find the remaining clothes a little at a time.

Keep updated list on you for when you find a good deal. If you buy things you didn’t need, it isn’t really saving, is it? I know from experience.

What other ways do you save money on clothing?
