February 3in30 Week 2

My Goals for February:

1. Finish filling out and using home management binder.

~I have a few more pages to fill out in my notebook. I have been using it, so I think that is most important!

2. Drink 6-8 glasses of water a day, and take my vitamins.

~I have been struggling with the water, I don’t drink well in the cold, I have been getting 3-6 in.

If I count a glass or two of sweet tea, than I am golden! The vitamins could be better as well.

3. Live more simply.

~ I have already posted about my living room success. I also deep cleaned like a mad woman!

Tuesday I decided that on top of cooking for and hosting a ladies evening at my home I was going to begin the kitchen purge…

This is the result-

Cookie dough, soup, spaghetti, chicken salad mess coupled with counters filled with decisions. I then realized I had not taken “before” photos.

These are in progress- I cleared out all of the plastic cups and sippy cups, and pare them down. I am keeping matching glasses and Grandma Betty’s china, although it moved to another cabinet.

This corner cabinet makes me crazy! I put Grandma Betty’s china up in the highest two, which is where my crockpot used to live, but it was so hard to get out! The china only comes out once a year-so it will be fine there.

Nothing that is in this picture actually stayed. I also bought some things this time, which I said I wouldn’t do. Think of the money I will make at the yard sale though!!

Organized Simplicity said to clean then do the cabinets, but I am doing the opposite. Makes more sense to me.

This is our pantry cabinet. We clean it every week before more comes in, but I need to purge it again. I also started buying bags of cereal this week Surprised smile. No complaints so far (I eat oatmeal).

In case you were wondering- all food was finished, and kitchen was cleaned, and mopped before the ladies arrived.

I will post the finished kitchen, when it is finished! I have a few more cabinets to do, and the crazy cleaning left.

How are your goals for the new year, February coming along?

  4. Sam,
I think that I have the SAME china from my grandma! I couldn't quite tell in the pic, but I'm pretty sure! Can't wait to see after pics...I love kitchens! My struggle is the counters and how much to keep out on them. I need to do a deep clean of MY kitchen and tomorrow just might be the day!

  6. Hi Samantha! Looks like you're making great progress. Periodically, I throw things away in the kitchen but need to expand that into every room of the house.

Other than that, though, I'm doing well this week. Just need to finesse the earlier bedtime!

  10. You're doing a great job. I always seem to make a huge mess while I'm in the process of purging, but the end result is so nice. I need to get my pantry cleaned up as it's a mess right now.

  15. I don't know about you, but I felt great getting rid of the stuff I had in my kitchen like plastic cups from here & there, quart containers with lids from the local Chinese restaurant, and stuff belonging to my mother and grandmother. Then there was mis-matched silverware, warped pots (Seriously, why was I keeping that?) etc. I got rid of about half the stuff in my cabinets and if I'm being honest it still wasn't enough.

  16. Looks great! Goal setting is not my strong suit just now, but I have started my orchard notebook. Trees are on the way and I need to know what to do with them. A lot of little projects seem to help keep going a little every day.

(Stopped by to thank you for praying for our family. It has been awhile since you posted, but we really do appreciate our homeschool family and your many prayers.)
