Taking the Plunge

Let’s just say there will be no more curriculum purchased by me for, well…forever!! We have hit a wall with Math, and after days of stressing and reading about a billion reviews… I ordered 5 levels of Math U See today! Look out for my thoughts about it, and know that if it doesn’t work, I will send it packing!!!!

I have also decided this- if this does work, I am not listening to what anyone else prefers. I have recently joined a community, which I will soon be leaving, where there are some major curriculum snobs!! I have never come across that before, and I do not like it! I won’t let that change my recent direction in our education path, but I won’t be hanging out there for sure! Enough of the mini-rant, I wasn’t expecting that!

We will be starting MUS as soon as it gets here, 2-3 days from now. Watch out Mr. UPS man!!

  1. Hope you enjoy MUS. We have enjoyed it so far and plan to use it again next year as well. I agree, you HAVE to do what works for you. If you start listening to everyone else's opinion, you can easily get overwhelmed. You know your kids, their learning styles and what will work for you & just go with your "needs" rather than everyone else's opinion. The beauty of homeschooling is we all can do it our own way but end up at the same goal.

  3. Good for you! I think sometimes people forget that what works for one child does not work for others. I have learned (the hard way I might add), that I need to follow my own heart when it comes to schooling the kids. I do take constructive advice into consideration, but it is not set in stone. I have actually tried many different math programs for my girls and have found some good ones now. Math is a subject that is really individualized. Each kid learns at a different pace. I can't wait to see how you like Math U See. I have heard great things about! Keep is posted.

  5. We love Math U See! The creator of the program was at our homeschooling conference last year, and his explanations of everything (from the simplest addition to higher level math) made so much sense. We use Math U See and Singapore Math (we school year round), and I've actually learned better ways to do regrouping in subtraction than the stuff I learned in school! My second-grader loves Math U See, and cheers when we get the blocks out! I hope it is the perfect fit for your kiddos!
