I have always been a cleaner. My parents never once told me to clean my room, I did it on my own. I cleaned the rest of the house too. Then I had children, and kept up with cleaning very well until baby #5. Then #6. Then we decided to take the kids out of public school.
I would have never been featured on a show about clutter, but I was not happy. I like a sparkly clean house.
Homeschooling and researching homeschooling have kind of taken over my life. I have my support for homeschooling online as well, so I find myself in books and on the computer a lot.
With the new year, and B90Days back, I decided I needed to grab ahold of my schedule and goals, so everything would get done. One of my 3in30 goals for January was a chore chart.
The goals~
- Make a chore chart, and stick to it.~Progress in this post.
- Relax learning in our homeschool. ~Started Unit Study approach this week.
- Be more prayerful. ~Doing very well. I start each day in prayer, and pray several more times a day.
Last week I polled the kids to find out what their favorite chores were, and then made up a schedule.
It doesn’t have times, but is in order of appearance. Most need done after school, and dinner.
Then I took it a step further, since the ball was rolling, and moved to personal accountability. I don’t like a chart for me, as I move all over the house all day. I wanted something portable. A friend shared this idea from ConvenientlySimplistic. I then went over to FlyLady to see some already thought up chore lists, as I wanted to make this fast.
Here is my “box”.
I know about the typo, lol, I replaced that card. The master Zone list reminds me of what Zone to look for on “Zone Day”.
This is my weekly schedule. I have it in the lid so I can quickly see my goals for the week.
Here are a few of Monday’s chores.
One of my Zone cards.
This is where I am going to put important dates for card mailing, which I will do on Wednesdays, and less frequent chores best done in that month.
Here is my daily pack of things to do. In this stack is a card that says to do my Zone, or chores for the day.
Before bed checklist.
The family really digs in each evening to make the house tidy and vacuumed before our devotional. It makes for a peaceful time, and a great way to wake up!
The system is really working for us, and I feel very calm and accomplished. How are your goals coming along?
Do you have a "list" of all these things or did you just pull them out of your head while you were making your "box"? I have like certain things to do each day, but I'm not very organized, again, going back and forth I get off track. If you do have a "list" could you scan it and email it to me??? Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI am always better when I am FLYing.... I just often crash land my own plane...lol...
ReplyDeleteI like the recipe box idea. the binders take over the counter....
I love Flylady-- I've been "flying" since 2003 (wow!)and still have yet to find a system that speaks to me better. Her mantras get me through and from your post today it looks like I'm in good company.
ReplyDeleteIt would be great to be able to do this and stick to it. This is such a great idea! I found you on a blog hop and I am ur newest follower in everything. If you get the chance check out my blog

The box is such a great idea! You may have just inspired a February goal for 3in30! Congrats on you progress. Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteYou have a beautiful family...and welcome to the homeschooling world. Your accomplishments on the charts are praiseworthy. Great job and keep it up!
ReplyDeleteI have flown around, but found that I would give it up too easily. You're cards seem like it would be easier to follow. I do have a daily chore list from Motivated Mamas that have helped me keep organized.
ReplyDeleteHow are your kinds enjoying the unit study? You seem so organized - it is very inspiring. Keep up the great 3in30 work!

ReplyDeleteHello, my new friend! :) OMG!!! I sat here with my mouth hanging open and drooling over all your pics on this post! LOL! I want a box like yours!!! ;) Seriously, I have always been a planner but over the last couple of years many things have happened to cause me to just start flying by the seat of my pants and not thinking ahead like I used to, or planning like I used to. You just lit a spark in me, where the fire used to be! ;)
Thanks ladies! I am running off to each of your pages I didn't get to last night. :)
ReplyDeleteI am floored by the box. I really need to learn how to do this as well. What a very clever idea! Isn't it odd how I've known all about the Fly Lady for years and even tried her way before, but this box makes it all make sense!?
ReplyDeleteGet thee an Etsy store and sell these things woman! Or at least donate them to worthy causes like me - just the information, I can use my own box and notecards. :)
oh, yeah... I'm stopping by from 3in30
Samantha, I am ready to take your advice on the box whenever you are ready to give it. You might as well make it a tutorial on your blog.
ReplyDeletewow!! i might need to copy this idea :) I love the concept of the zone! Stopping by from 3in30 :) Blessings to you!
ReplyDeleteI love it! I made up a box like this a la Flylady years ago and it worked great for me! I even color-coded, typed and laminated my cards, LOL. I still have it although it's obsolete since we've moved and added to our family since then, but I just can't seem to throw it out. It worked great for me! I do something very similar now with an app on my phone....it's like a virtual card box, LOL. I love the zone concept! I've been using it for about 10 years now.
ReplyDeleteYou ask, I listen. I will work up a tutorial this weekend, Lord willing :)
ReplyDeleteHooray!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a system to me! Great job.
ReplyDelete{tara}@ undeserving grace
I love your system! I envy you, I've never been a natural cleaner. It takes a lot of effort for me. I'm glad you had a good week, hope you have another one!
ReplyDeleteBlessings~
That is an excellent system. I'm not a natural cleaner, but I am a natural organizer. I just need to get better at combining the two. lol! Keep up the great job!
