He Loves Me.

Blogging Through The Gospels, Matthew 7

Scripture:

“If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!”     Matthew 7:11

Observation:

Our Father will give to those who ask, just like we do for our children.

Application:

For me, this is difficult. I was raised in a denomination where we heard about the judgment of God, but not the love. I never had a picture of a loving father in my mind, but a mad one, ready to punish you at every turn.

I left that church as soon as I left my parent’s house- and never looked back. I went straight to a non-denominational church that did not hide the fact that sin and hell were real, but also spoke of a loving Father, who sent His Son to save us.

If I can love my children with such overwhelming love, as a sinful man,how much more must my heavenly Father love me?

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank you so much for your love, and your sacrifice of your only Son. Please help me to remember that I am not dangling over the fire as I walk. Help me to mold in my mind that you love me, despite all of my failures. Help me to be a better Christian each day, remember the alternative, and help as many others avoid that path as well. Amen.
